7. Upgrading from Previous Versions
The OVERLAPS installer has been specifically designed to make all installation and upgrade processes as pain-free as possible. The procedure is as simple as:
- Download the latest patch from our website.
- Run the MSI installer on your OVERLAPS server.
- Sit back and enjoy a nice cup of tea (or your beverage of choice), because that's it.
7.1 Frequently Asked Questions
7.1.1 I'm on version 1.0, do I need to install all the earlier patches in sequence first?
No, just use the latest patch, the installer is smart enough to know what changes are required to carry out a full upgrade automatically.
7.1.2 I have a problem with the latest patch, can I roll back the update?
For minor updates, in principal you should be able to uninstall the new patch and install a previous version without any adverse effects. For major updates, or significant database changes though this may introduce unexpected problems. If you are concerned that this may be required, it would be advisable to take a backup copy of your database file before updating.

Also, if you do experience any problems with an update, please contact us!
7.1.3 Can I enable automatic updates in OVERLAPS?
Not at the moment. This has been a requested feature, and will likely make it into an update at some point, but for the time being we feel that it isn't up to us to make un-prompted changes to your servers. When it is added, it will almost certainly be an opt-in feature though.
7.1.4 Can I deploy updates as an SCCM (or equivalent) package?
Yes. All patches are simple MSI files, require no special input, and can be run silently through the normal MSI command line switches without the need for any public properties or transforms.
